The South Lawn at Tryon Palace will be the site of the first MUMFEST Kick-off concert featuring the popular country music band, Love and Theft and another well known performer, Bryan Mayer as the opener.
Whiskey on My Breath - Love and Theft's third album,marks a significant creative statement for the two singer-songwriter-guitarists, whose resume already includes a long series of career highlights. Having already established themselves as one of country's hottest young acts with such memorable hits as the #1 country smash "Angel Eyes" and the Top 10 hit "Runaway," and their widely acclaimed albums World Wide Open and Love and Theft, the ACM/CMA/CMT-nominated twosome take their music to the next level on Whiskey on My Breath. The NC ECU big man of country music, Bryan Mayer, ended up with an opportunity to open for CMA nominated Country artists, Love & Theft in 2010. Bryan identifies with bonfires, days on the river and the simple life that is country. WRNS took notice of Mayer's talent and began to use him as a frequent opener at concerts for National Country headliners like Trace Adkins, Joe Nichols, Craig Morgan, Eli Young Band, the Band Perry, Thompson Square and dozens more. The Yo-Yo Guy
John Higby is the Yo-Yo Guy!
John has performed his unique high energy comedy yo-yo show in 26 countries from New Zealand to Japan, holds the world yo-yo champion title and four Guinness World Records. He has been featured on David Letterman, the Discovery Channels Time Warp, Comedy Central, the Guinness World Record show, Fetch the Ruff Ruffman on PBS and even has his own Topps trading card! The Yo-Yo Guy is an interactive performance with yo-yo's, a unicycle and a giant yo-yo that John walks on!

Down to Earth Aerial Acrobatics
Amanda Durnell of Raleigh is someone to look up to. Way up. She is part of Down to Earth Aerials who, along with her protege Rebecca Vick, will be performing daily in Union Point Park. The duo have been performing both locally and regionally and love entertaining and interacting with people. One of the most popular featured acts is a blindfolded aerial hoop duo on a moving, spinning apparatus.
The performances specialize in aerial hoop, static trapeze, and aerial acrobatics on fabric suspended 16 to 30 feet high on their portable indoor or outdoor rig. You will be mesmerized and amazed as you watch them gracefully glide, and climb on the fabric with stunning, intricate choreography.
Bank of the Arts (317 Middle Street) will feature music on Saturday.
ENCORE, is a Show Choir composed of students from Craven Community College. These singing ambassardors represent the college in performances throughout the county. Directed by Chauncy Stevenson, the choir is made up of music majors as well as students from various degree programs. From Mozart to Motown, the choirs diverse musical repertoire is sure to entertain as well as inspire. Highlighted performances include the yearly Christmas Concert, Spring Concert and MUMFEST, all held in beautiful downtown New Bern. Performance 12:00
New Bern Suzuki Musicians Group is a local group of talented violinists and pianists taught by NC Suzuki Association President, Rachel Harmatuk Pino (violin) and New Bern Suzuki teachers Lorraine Robinson (piano) and Dayton Vesper (piano). Audiences have enjoyed the wide variety of music performed at many events around New Bern and will enjoy seeing the group perform in the beautiful Bank of Arts. Students of all ages will present a fun mix of Folk, Classical and Pop music. Come support and enjoy these hardworking students! Performance 1:00
Down East Dulcimers will join Thursday Morn' to perform well known Bluegrass tunes that will have you tapping your toes and singing along. The bands' instruments include lap and hammered dulcimers, guitar, dobro, banjammer, fiddles, cajon drum and more.
Alex Clark...a comedian who just happens to juggle.
Whether he's juggling meat cleavers or flinging jokes, Alex leaves the crowd gasping for air in both awe and laughter. Finishing his show atop a 10 foot ladder, Alex is a comedian that stands above the rest. Live performing is where it starts at the corner of MIddle and Broads Streets daily.

Willy the Hillbilly
Willy the Hillbilly will join us at MUMFEST for two days, compliments of Pepsi MInges Bottling Group.
Festival-goers will have fun meeting Willy the Hillbilly in person, shaking his hand and posing with him for photo ops! For those old enough to remember the 1960's and would enjoy jogging their memory with a 1966 Willy the Hillbilly commercial, go to Willy the Hillbilly.
Mumfest offers a diversity of entertainment for the old and young alike.
Adding to the merriment, crowd pleasing performers include dance troupes, college and local choruses, roving street performers, magicians and clowns that interact with festival guests.
